Theotown vs OpenTTD: Learn the differences and which one is better.
OpenTTD and Theotown are two of my Favorite games of all time. Two of them are very popular and iconic. In this quick and brief blog post, you are going to learn the differences between the two, which one should you consider playing and which one fits your preferences.
Firstly, I would say that OpenTTD itself focuses on another topic. Both has city building mechanics and they also has similar art styles. But OpenTTD focuses on city transport, that means connecting different cities using transportation systems and making a successful transport company that stands out.
OpenTTD also has mods, just like Theotown. It is possible to transform OpenTTD to a fully focused city building game using mods. Unlike OpenTTD, I would say Theotown also has both aspects. A transport system and city building. Theotown is a city building game from the start, no need for mods.
The only major difference is accessibility. Theotown is available in Android, IOS, and PC. Meanwhile, OpenTTD is only available on PC. OpenTTD is a remake of Transport Tycoon Deluxe; made by Chris Sawyer. The game is also available in PS1, with the only exception being that it's not OpenTTD, but the original game, transport tycoon deluxe.
In Conclusion, I would consider that Theotown is a game for people who want to focus on building cities, while OpenTTD is a game that fits the description for a Transport simulator/tycoon, and growing cities is an aspect of OpenTTD to lead a way to success. The opinion on which one is better differs between people, but i would say Theotown is the one.
